BO DISTRICT COUNCIL COMMISSIONS 40 M BRIDGE AND CULVERTS IN TIKONKO
Although virtual connectivity has taken prominence in today’s era with the emergence of new communication avenues, a good and reliable road network remains a succumbing element to break the chains of poverty.
As part of his flagship to connect communities to social amenities, the Bo District Council Chairman, Victor Korseh Hindowa, has on 12th April, 2024 has commissioned a 40-meter bridge in Magihun Town, Tikonko Chiefdom. The bridge was built with financial support from the Government of Sierra Leone through the Road Maintenance Fund Administration (RMFA).
This is geared towards reducing the distance between communities, markets, and services, or better still, getting people connected as a means to foster economic growth across the district. It is worth noting that there is a positive correlation between a country’s economic development and the quality of its road network.
Before Chairman Hindowa’s occupation of the office, the district was lagging behind other districts in terms of the development of its road network. Indicatively, a lot could go wrong when a bridge or culvert is unavailable where it is needed. Such poses threats to human lives, restraining access to facilities such as education, health and livelihoods.
Under his leadership, significant progress on feeder road connectivity has been realized lately. “I am delighted today to commission this 40-meter bridge in Tikonko chiefdom, forming part of other chiefdoms who have been connected to essential services. “I am laying my foundation to correlate my manifesto to the Bio-led Government’s initiative of the five game changers, with preference to the ‘Feed Salone’ agenda.” Chairman Hindowa avowed.

He added that he would not stand to see communities being deprived of essential services in this day and age. Chairman Hindowa maintained that no citizen deserves to die as a result of inaccessibility to health facilities and other amenities.
The Chief Administrator, Vivian Sally Senesie, underscored that a good road network is critical in the improvement of the socio-economic livelihood of residents. She vowed to support Chairman’s Hindowa’s agenda in connecting communities.
The Chairperson, Council of Paramount Chiefs, PC Mohamed Tshombe of Wonde chiefdom, said that the energy of the new administration signifies the value it places on residents. Adding that progress is only possible where communities are connected.
