BO DISTRICT COUNCIL SECURES EU GRANTS
Yesterday, 7th May 2025, remains a significant day in history for the people of Bo District, as its District Council Chairman finally signed a grant agreement of Five hundred thousand Euro (€500,000) under the European Union project titled ” *_Support to Civil Society and Local Authorities to contribute to local development in Sierra Leone ._ “*
The ceremony was held at the prestigious EU headquarters on Leicester Peak in Freetown. It was graced by the EU Ambassador, His Excellency Jacek Jankowski and other Local Authorities.
The District Council Chairman was accompanied by the Chief Administrator, Vivian Sally Senesie and the Development and Planning Officer, Elfrida Bockarie.
Whilst signing the grant agreement, the District Council Chairman, Victor Korseh Hindowa affirmatively assured he would make it an inherent part of him to achieve the desired goal for which the funds are meant.
“In the fringes of development effort, my people’s interest is foremost in any endeavor I make. And I am ready to trade off all that I have to see them live a better life.” Chairman Hindowa wholeheartedly poured.
He decisively recounted of his team’s absorptive capacity in managing the funds. Adding that nothing will come out of the implementation other than excellence.
Expected major actions from the grants are;
Construction of an ultra modern
50 bedroom hostel with WASH facilities for Njala students at Torwama campus to be managed by a public-private partnership for revenue generation.
Update of the Council’s cadastral system and trainings for staff, Councilors and many more.
Giving his keynote, the EU Ambassador urged Local Authorities to envision an ambitious agenda for the country; one that integrates existing stewardship initiatives for its people.
For the records, this grant was decisively secured in a realm of contesting competition amongst seemingly equal qualifying Local Councils across the country.
